Hey there, and welcome. I am so glad you found your way to our corner of the world.
If you’ve spent any time at the Grove Shack, you’ve probably seen a tall, handsome young man with a smile that just seems to catch the light. That’s my son, Noah. He’s 17 now, and he is the heartbeat behind everything we do here. But to understand why we started Noah’s Purpose, I have to take you back to a time when things didn't feel quite so bright.
When Noah was just a little guy, we received a diagnosis that changed our lives: Level 3 Autism. It’s a heavy label to carry. I remember sitting in those sterile doctor's offices, holding my baby’s hand, and listening to a long, cold list of "nevers."
The experts—the people who were supposed to see his potential—told me to prepare for a very limited life. They said I should look into putting him in a home. They told me he’d never hold a job, never drive a car, never live independently... a whole lifetime of doors being slammed shut before he even had a chance to reach for the handle.
As a mother, those words don't just hurt; they haunt you. You stay up at night wondering who will protect your child when you’re gone. You worry about a world that might only see his challenges and never the beautiful, capable soul underneath.
But here’s the thing about Noah: he doesn't care much for other people's "nevers."
Today, that same boy who was supposed to be tucked away in a facility is the hardest worker I know. He didn't just learn to navigate the world; he mastered it in his own way. He loves to drive, he takes pride in his work, and he greets every single day with a joy that is absolutely infectious.
Noah proved that the "experts" were wrong. He showed me that with the right environment—one built on patience, safety, and genuine belief—the list of "nevers" starts to disappear.
I started this non-profit because I realized that while Noah has me and the Grove Shack to protect him, there are so many others out there who don't have that safety net.
As Noah grew older, my biggest fear wasn't his autism; it was the world. I worried about him being taken advantage of, or being dismissed because he processes things differently. I wanted a place where he could work, learn, and grow without the fear of judgment or exploitation.
Noah’s Purpose is the realization of that dream. We aren't just a non-profit; we are a community of believers. We are taking the lessons Noah taught us and opening the doors for other individuals with special needs.
At the Grove Shack, we provide:
When one of our team members masters a new task or serves a customer with a proud smile, that’s a victory against every "never" they’ve ever been told.
We are just getting started, and to be honest, we’re learning as we go. But my heart is so full because of the way this community has stepped up to walk alongside us. If you feel moved to support our mission and help us provide these opportunities to more families, there are a few ways you can help:
1. Give from the Heart
Every dollar goes directly toward creating a space where special needs individuals can thrive. Whether it's equipment for training or helping us expand our reach, your generosity changes lives.
2. The "Can" Crusade
Our boys are out there working hard! We collect aluminum cans, and the boys take them to the metal recycling center to raise funds for the non-profit. It’s a great way for them to learn about the value of work while cleaning up our community. If you have bags of cans taking up space, bring them our way!
3. Spread the Word
Sometimes the greatest gift you can give is your voice. Tell your neighbors about the Grove Shack. Tell them about the amazing people working here. Help us shift the conversation from what people with special needs can't do to the incredible things they are doing.
A Note of Gratitude
From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you for buying your produce here, for saying hello to Noah, and for believing that every person has a purpose. We are proving, one day at a time, that a diagnosis isn't a dead end—it's just a different path. And on this path, we walk together.
With love and hope,
